SAFER NEIGHBOURHOODS
Following the Safer Neighbourhood Coffee Morning held on the 25th January 2012. Residents in the Parkstone, Penn Hill and Canford Cliffs area, are advised that the SNT Panel have agreed the following neighbourhood priority
Reduction of Theft from Sheds and Garages
BOGUS CALLERS
There has been an increase of bogus callers to residential properties claiming to be from a drain company, or a similar company. They are telling residents that they need to carry out some work. Once the work has been carried out or started, they have then asked for a sum of money immediately which appears to be between £500-£1000. On occasions they have asked the resident to go to the bank to get the money.
Three men were arrested on 24.01.2012 in Poole on suspicion of fraud following a report of this nature. They have been bailed pending further investigations.
If you get a visit, please check the caller's identification and check with the company they state they are from. Do not agree to the work if you feel this is suspicious and call the police with any details, vehicles or descriptions you may have.
If in doubt, residents can call Bournemouth Trading Standards on 08454 04 05 06 or Dorset Police on 101 (non-emergencies only - dial 999 if a crime is in progress or life is in danger).
